It's been a week and a half now since Hayden burnt his hand. We have a fireplace in our basement--and it's been cold here, so we've had a fire going off and on. Well, Hayden was downstairs playing with a stick horse and tripped. He caught himself...yep, you guessed it! on the fireplace! Poor kid! He came upstairs screaming--"I hurt myself!" The palm of his hand was white! I got him some cold water and looked on the internet to see what I should do for a white burn. I ended up calling my sister, Jenn--Thanks for your help! When I looked at his hand a little while later, it was starting to blister, so off we went to the dr. He had a second degree burn. They put some stuff on the burn and wrapped his hand up. He is on an antibiotic so he doesn't get an infection. I had to take him back a couple days later, and luckily Ben was home that day because they drained the blister--and it made Hayden feel queasy, and me too! His hand is healing quite well--the old skin is starting to crack. Don't worry, though, the burn isn't stopping him--he has been coloring, painting, playing, eating all with his left hand! I will take a picture of his hand the next time it is unwrapped. We are so glad his hand is looking better every day and he is using it more and more!
