Our Little Boy Turns 6

Ahoy mateys! Happy birthday to Hayden! He turned 6 on January 23. He missed having his birthday party last year (because we had a newborn), so he got to have his first birthday party on the 21st--a pirate party. He invited 4 friends--Cooper Olaveson, Ridge Nield, Lane Yearsley, and Brennyn Moore. We started out by playing pin the patch on the pirate and each boy got a bandana for playing.

Then they went on a treasure hunt! We made it very simple since not all of them can read. We put colored cards in one room and on the back was a different color. When they found the new color, they had to search the house for the spot with that colored cards...and so on until they found the X with the treasure. They each got pirate tattoos, a pirate patch, a pirate ear-ring, pirate balloons, a pirate party blow-out (yeah, I don't know what they are called), and, of course, coins. It was a fun time!
Here are all of the boys: (l-r) Brennyn, Lane, Ridge, Hayden and Cooper

Hayden got the choice of cupcakes or ice cream sundaes for his birthday party, and he chose sundaes! So we set the island up with ice cream and toppings and helped each boy make their own sundae...sang happy birthday...and ate to their heart's content!

And then Hayden opened gifts--thank you to everyone for the all the fun stuff...basketball hoop, super hero tent kit, rad flyer and silly string, and a whoopie coushion, taser gun and handcuffs.

On his actual birthday, Monday, the 23rd, we had grandma, grandpa and Diana out for dinner and cake and ice cream. He asked for chicken noodle soup-erole and homemade rolls. We were originally going to do a treasure map cake, but then Hayden decided he wanted something else. He picked out the picture and Ben decorated it for him.

Great job Daddy!
Hayden's primary teachers (Steve and Nikki Robison) gave him a ceramic statue of a little boy praying--so nice! He also got some new pajamas, cowboy boots and a nice belt, spurs, beyblade, a remote control helicopter, a new shirt, and some money.

We hope you had a great birthday Hayden! You are a good boy--you try to do what is right, you pester your sisters (like boys do) and are happy most of the time. You LOVE to do ANYTHING with your dad and you like to be outside. We love you so much and we are so thankful to have you in our family!

So much fun. I looked at the first picture on this post and had to remind myself of which blog I was looking at. Hayden looks a lot like Brett's Austin. I guess that would be the Robinson genes coming out.
